Amino Acid Supplements

Amino acids have been receiving a great deal of hype in the health and nutrition industries over the last few years, and many people are confused as to what they provide and whether or not supplementation is a good idea for their health.

These are the building blocks that are used to make up proteins that are necessary for the body to be able to function in a healthy way. There are eight essential amino acids, which means that they are not produced by the body and must therefore be obtained in other ways, such as through the consumption of food. They are: lysine, leucine, valine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, theonine, and methionine.

If you are not receiving adequate quantities of these essential substances in your diet, then many doctors will recommend that amino acid supplements be taken in order to make up for what is lacking. These are easily found in health food stores as well as online.

Amino acid supplements are most commonly taken by athletes, as they are vital to the body’s ability to build muscles. However, this doesn’t mean that they are not appropriate for non-athletes, depending on the individual’s diet and doctor’s recommendations.

It should be noted that there is no scientific evidence to support any claim that amino acid supplements are helpful in bulking up the body’s muscles. That goal is achieved only during strength training. The true benefit to these supplements is in their ability to support the repair of muscle tissue that is damaged throughout the practice of these exercises.

Other benefits to using amino acid supplements can include easing muscular soreness that may occur due to having trained strenuously.

Other health issues can also be assisted by taking this products, as well This can include everything from fighting infection, rheumatoid arthritis, depression, and they may even help to lower the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Some patients with certain neurological disorders and complex illnesses can benefit from amino acid supplements, while other patients even find that they help to battle the common cold.

Clinical trials have indicated that amino acid supplements can help individuals who are battling various forms of addictions, such as alcohol and drugs, but even behavioral and non-substance addictions such as gambling. Those who took the supplements in these studies have reported fewer addictive urges than those not taking them.

That said, it is important to be careful with amino acid supplements, as not everybody needs them, and their dosages must be carefully selected. It is important to speak with a doctor before taking these products.
