GNC Total Lean Advanced Metabolic Elite is a nonprescription diet pill that is one of the offerings of the very large supplement retailer, GNC, which is based in the United States. This company sells an extensive list of different types of health supplements and athletic formulations. These range from sports blends to nutrition aids and from weight loss pills to protein shakes.
In this case, the official description of the product says that it is a “fast-acting metabolism supercharger” through the thermogenesis it promotes in the body. Thermogenesis is the process used by the body to produce body heat. This is something that is naturally occurring in your body all the time. However, in terms of weight loss, when taking a product that boosts thermogenesis, it means that your body will be burning through more calories and fats in order to fuel the body heat it is producing. When this occurs to an adequate intensity and for enough time, the idea is that it will be able to burn through a measurable amount of fat on your body and cause you to lose weight more quickly than you would on your own.
Of course, whether or not GNC Total Lean Advanced Metabolic Elite actually helps anyone to achieve that goal – one that is appealing to both dieters and bodybuilders – depends on the ingredients within the formula. The official webpage for this product says that it is “clinically proven to burn 6x more calories,” though it doesn’t cite any studies, nor does it identify the basis for comparison, making the reader wonder: the fat burning is 6 times faster than what?
Unfortunately, at the time of the writing of this review, the official website did provide a product description but didn’t offer a list of ingredients that could be found. Therefore, a third party site selling the product was consulted in order to obtain the ingredients list. The sales site listed the ingredients in this product as being: niacin, the 6x Clinical Burn Blend (which includes mucuna pruriens seed extract, ginger root extract, boswellia serrata gum extract, Capsimax (capsaicin), cinnamon bark extract and piper longum fruit extract), the Botanical Rush Blend (which includes green coffee bean extract, rocket plant leaf extract and chicory root extract) and the Mind/Body Matrix (which includes reishi mushroom powder and cordyceps sinesis extract).
None of the ingredients on this list are considered to be scientifically or medically proven to be a direct cause of weight loss when taken in supplement form.
